Stream of Consciousness

Here's something that bothers me, the fact that you're only worth something when you have money.  Let's be honest, that's how our society works.  It's not only that, but it's the fact that your worth is dependent on anything at all is what is upsetting.  I'm not sure what life is all about and I'm not sure if it's about anything at all, but isn't it strange that we insist on making it about something so stupid?  Money, what kind of job you have, what you can give to other people.  That's what matters.  You want to meditate, do yoga, read books, work on yourself, well that's just laziness.  Personal growth isn't worth anything in this society.  It's all about what you get and what you can show for it.

You might think that I'm being cynical, that I'm over exaggerating, but just look at the world around you and you can see it for yourself.  I don't know about you, but growing up, no one ever told me that working on myself was what was most important.  No one ever said that I didn't have to work for my worth.  The world we live in just doesn't work like that.  Depending on how much we're able to accumulate from our miserable jobs is what we're worth.  Not that everyone is miserable in their jobs, but lets be honest, I don't know too many happy people.

I guess this isn't the most positive post I could write, but there's something strange to me about everyone just accepting the world we live in.  I struggle with this a lot.  Over and over again I'm plagued with the thought of "why?"  Why do we choose to live in a world that's okay with destroying our environment?  Why do we choose to live in a world where some have so much and some have nothing at all?  Why do we choose to live in a world that wants us to fight against each other?  The list can go on and on and I still haven't figured it out and I'm not sure that I ever will.

We so easily look down on others because of what they don't have.  We call people lazy and worthless as if we're all contributing so much more.  We pride ourselves in going to school and getting a good education.  We have access to almost everything we'd ever want to know through the internet, yet, we're so out of touch.  All we have is more useless information that we use to navigate a useless society.  We don't know ourselves and we don't know the people around us.  We're isolated and cut off from the truth.  Some of us have escaped and some of us are free, but let's face it, they're the minority.

It's true that this is starting to get pretty depressing and society is set up for us to fail, but that doesn't mean we have to.  That doesn't mean that we have to keep up with the illusion that's put in front of us.  The truth is, life is a game and we don't have to play anyone else's game.  We don't have to play the game that everyone else is playing and I would certainly advise against it.  I feel like I write about this time and time again, but I don't want anyone to forget that they don't have to do a damn thing to hold worth.  Your worth was with you before you were born into this world and it will be with you long after you're gone.  You may live in this world, but it's your choice how you see it and it's your choice how you can change it too.

I'm not sure if this post even makes that much sense, but there's gotta be something of value in here.  Keep fighting for the world that you want to live in and don't let anyone or anything break you.  You're more than enough and you don't need anyone to tell you that except for yourself.  Don't give up.

Peace and Love.
